Ken Lum (*1956, Canada) is a chinese-canadian artist, working with painting, sculpture and photography and a strong conceptual approach.
His works get international exhibited in solo exhibitions, like at Mamco Geneve, CCA Wattis, Vancouver Art Gallery and The Power Plant in Toronto.
The photography „Barthes in Beijing“ was published by Salzburger Kunstverein in an Edition of 25 in the year 2014. It shows a department store in China, which shares its name with the famous french philosopher Roland Barthes, who became famous for his analyses of the everyday life and its phenomenas, as well as photography. The photography was part of the group exhibition „Punctum“ at the Salzburger Kunstverein, which refers in its titel to Roland Barthes as well and invited international artists to show their favourite photographs. The artists were free to chose works form themself, from other artists or anoymous photographers.
Works by Ken Lum are part of international art collections, like of Universalmuseum Joanneum, Frac Ile-de-France, Frac Normandi Rouen, the National Gallery of Canada, Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Arco Collection.
